The conduct of our investigation
We have developed some key principles which are essential to a robust investigation. We will:
- need to see the originals of all documents which are key to the investigation.
- undertake our review of your documentation at your site and then ask you to provide us with photocopies of any documents which we need to take away to help us prepare our report.
- interview the complainant at your site, or at a neutral site if that is not appropriate.
- need you to ensure that any members of your staff we need to interview are available and understand the importance of cooperating with us.
- undertake any interviews at your site, or at a neutral site if that is not possible.
- share with those we interview, notes of our conversations so that we have an agreed evidence base.
- share the substance of our draft report with you and the complainant to identify any inaccuracies.
- share our provisional conclusions and any recommendations with you to secure your views.
- include in our report all the information required to substantiate our conclusions.
- keep all your information confidential and safe. On completion of our investigation we will return your information or dispose of it securely.
- send our final report to you, and not the complainant, so that you can decide what action to take and communicate this to the complainant.
